Billy M. Gillihan, age 81, of Indianapolis, passed away April 29, 2011 at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center.
Billy was born to the late Thomas and Josephine Gillihan, August 3, 1929, in Franklin, Kentucky. He completed a high school education. He married the late Minnie Bell Shepard in 1949. They lived in Kentucky before relocating to Indianapolis. They were married for 57 years.
Billy was a vending machine service and repair man for 30 years until he retired in 1997. He was an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church for 50+ years. He was somewhat of a coffee connoisseur, had interests in coins and eagles, and maintained his sense of humor even up to the week of his passing. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a faithful supporter of many missionaries, the Sword of the Lord ministry, the Good News Mission and Bob Jones University.
Billy is survived by two children, daughters Debra Collier of Indianapolis and Tessa Haas (Wayne) of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and two grandchildren, Ryan Haas and Kayla Haas.
Services for Billy will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Crossroads Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. with family viewing at 10:00 a.m. and general viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by Indiana Funeral Care. Burial will follow immediately and be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood.
